El Calafate is located at the enormous lake Lago Argentino and looks out over the snowy mountain peaks of the Andes. For nature lovers, mountaineers and hikers El Calafate is a paradise! The town itself is trendy with many restaurants most of them including lounge and outdoor seating possibilities. The restaurants will not open until the evening falls because during the day everyone is out and about enjoying nature.

The most impressive glacier in Argentina is without a doubt Perito Moreno with its width of 5 kilometres and 70 metres in height. This is really an experience you shouldn’t miss. One can hear the breaking of the ice, see pieces of ice fall, and see the falling pieces cause incredible waves. Beautiful hiking paths offer an extraordinary view of the glacier. With a boat one can see the glacier up-close and ... there is even a possibility to walk with a guide on this glacier!

The only glacier in the world that is not retreating, Perito Moreno is not just a large block of ice but an immense marvel of nature rising 60 meters above sea level with an ice depth of 170 meters! A phenomenal auditory experience if you are lucky you can witness the ice collapsing into the iceberg channel.

Upsala, Ornelli and Spegazzini glaciers U$D 120
The Perito Moreno is enormous, but not the biggest glacier in the area. The Upsala glacier, with a surface of over 590 km2 is the biggest glacier of South America. A journey by catamaran will bring you to this glacier and to the glaciers Ornelli and Spegazzini.

Horseback riding U$D 35
If you’re into a more active way than by boat/bus to discover the beautiful surroundings of El Calafate, try going by horse. During this excursion you will go horseback riding, just like a real Argentinean Gaucho!
