Puerto Madryn is a quiet town between Golfo Nuevo and the endless and remote Patagonian steppes. This rustic town was founded in 1865 by immigrants from Wales. It turned out to be one of the most important ports of the Chubut province. The city is the perfect base for excursions to one of the most fascinating areas of nature in Argentina: Península Valdés

Here you can see many animals indigenous to Argentina and on the side of the peninsula; the whales welcome you to the sea. Peninsula Valdes is a true paradise!

Peninsula Valdes U$D 50
The Valdes Peninsula itself is a wildlife sanctuary and breeding area for Southern Right whales (June to December), elephant seals and sea lions. Take a whale watching boat from Puerto Piramide to see the whales up close. Visit the largest population of Magellan Penguins of South America (almost 1 million) at Punta Tombo from October to April.

Go check out the penguins in the South of Punta Tombo one can walk between penguins! But this is not the only exciting part of the excursion for the route towards the penguins is breathtaking. The penguins are at Punta Tombo from the end of August till the end of March.

4 Wheel drive tour U$D 95
A 200 kilometre journey on the rough track will let you follow the footsteps of the original settlers of the area. This tour will take you to several sites of Patagonia, for example the site where North American bandits murdered Llwyd ap Iwan, son of the founder of the Welsh Colony, Michael D Jones.
